What to confirm before requesting stainless steel quotation
Stainless quotations depend on grade, standard, surface, dimensions, inspection level, and packing protection.
Inquiry parameters
Confirm grade and standard, such as 304, 316L, 904L, ASTM A240, ASTM A312, or EN 10088.
Confirm form, thickness or OD/WT, width, length, tolerance, and required surface finish.
State whether the application needs corrosion resistance, sanitary service, marine exposure, or decorative finish.
Share quantity, destination port, packing preference, and inspection or MTC requirements.
Packing and documents
Use waterproof paper, PVC film, wooden pallets, or export bundles based on product form.
Confirm mill test certificate, packing list, invoice, certificate of origin, and shipping marks.
Request surface protection for polished, brushed, mirror, or sanitary stainless products.
Quality checks
Check chemical composition and mechanical properties against the requested standard.
Use PMI, dimensional inspection, surface inspection, and third-party inspection when required.
Confirm heat number traceability and MTC consistency before shipment.
Procurement FAQ
Common sourcing questions
What information is needed for a stainless steel quotation?
Please provide grade, standard, product form, dimensions, surface finish, quantity, destination port, and any MTC, PMI, or third-party inspection requirements.
Can 304 and 316L stainless steel be substituted?
Only if the project allows it. 316L contains molybdenum for stronger corrosion resistance, so chemical, marine, or chloride exposure should be reviewed before substitution.
Which documents are normally supplied with stainless steel export orders?
Common documents include MTC, commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, and any inspection certificate requested by the buyer.
